We had a blast! It was pretty busy, so we sat at the bar. We did a rum flight first. The rums were delicious, and the server did a great job telling all about the rum, how it was made, the history, etc. We tried the Mochiko chicken bites, the Kuleana rum-fired shrimp, the house wedge, and chocolate mousse. Everything was absolutely delicious!
Great spot! The vegan curry is fantastic. Some of the best tofu we’ve had on the island! Perfectly fried & crisp with a soft inside. Beware - this dish is SPICY, but absolutely delicious. As another reviewer said, rice does not come with this dish, and I definitely recommend it to cut the spice. I think the curry is the only vegan entree on the menu. Would love to see another vegan selection at this place! We also did the rum flight, which was fun.
Wonderful service. Big shoutout to the host - she’s EXCELLENT at her job and is just a fun person to talk to. Our server was great, too. We had a great time with her on her first night on the job 😊
Great place with big open sides so it was fun in an evening to do a rum tasting. The food was creative and excellent, bit loot at the menu first as it is a bit limited. Service was just great and they were on top of it.
Great drinks here and good food. We sat at the bar last year when we visited and again this year. The infused rums in the cocktails are delicious. I wish we could buy a bottle of the chocolate infused rum.
The food was super tasty, the staff and service was great and I would recommend this place to anyone. We tried the Poke Nachos, Big Island Beets, House Wedge salad and Mochiko Chicken along with two of their cocktails and all of it was yummy. I would certainly come back!
Perhaps this place would do well if they only served salad, because 2 of the 3 dishes we had were cold. We had a reservation for 7:30. We showed up early but no luck getting seated - not problem. Communication was very poor. We were sat down at 7:44. 7 min later a served provided water and took our orders. Fish tacos arrived cold - quite certain it hadn’t been grilled or cooked in the past 15 min before arriving. Curry was good and came out quite hot. We also ordered a side of fries, which came out slightly warm.
Atmosphere and our rum drink were nice. It’s just a shame to have a nice ambiance be paired with mediocre food.
Our fries were comped due do the fish tacos not being hot, so that was nice.
Overall, we were disappointed and won’t be going back.
We did the daiquiri class with Chelsea and had dinner in the restaurant, both were lovely.
The daiquiri class was so much fun. I really loved hearing the story of how Kuleana Rum got started and Chelsea's personal story. Although the class was not what I expected. It was more of a rum tasting, then you got to make a daiquiri, which was just rum, lime juice, and sugar water. So, nothing that I couldn't have done at home. That being said, it was still a good time.
The dinner was wonderful. I got the duck and my husband got the steak. Both meals were delicious. I was looking around at everyone else's meals and thought they looked and smelled great too. I have a feeling that you cant go wrong with anything there.
I recommend this place for a special night out, it is a little pricey for a "normal" night out.
This place is a bit overrated and of course overpriced. The food is delicious but the portions are tiny. The service is good and the atmosphere is just weird. The inside is also hella hot even during the night in October.
